Help for Dialvane, the private photo-backed utility meter journal for iPhone and iPad.

Contact support

Email support@softforge.digital with your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, Dialvane version, what you expected, and the steps that produced the issue. Support is available in English and French, and we aim to acknowledge requests within one business day.

Please do not attach a meter photograph, bill, address, account number, or export unless you deliberately want support to inspect that specific copy. Dialvane does not transmit those items automatically.

Camera and photo recognition

Dialvane asks for camera access only when you choose Camera. If access was denied, open iOS Settings, find Dialvane, enable Camera, and return to the app. You can also type a reading or use Apple's scoped Photos picker without granting broad library access.

For best OCR results, fill the frame with one clear digital or mechanical number counter, avoid glare and blur, and review every digit. Analog pointer dials are not supported. OCR is only a suggestion; correct it before saving whenever it differs from the meter.

Readings, rollover, and estimates

Dialvane rejects a reading below the previous value unless you configure the meter's rollover cycle. If the device was replaced or reset, create a separate meter record or configure the correct rollover behavior before saving.

Cost figures use the current per-unit rate you entered and are estimates, not bills. They omit taxes, fixed charges, tiered rates, time-of-use pricing, conversions, and utility-company corrections.

Reminders and exports

Monthly reminders are local. If one does not appear, verify notification permission for Dialvane in iOS Settings, confirm that the reminder is enabled, and remember that the app schedules days 1 through 28 so every month is supported.

CSV and PDF files are created on your device and appear only after you choose a destination in Apple's file exporter. The destination controls the exported copy. Meter photographs are retained in Dialvane's evidence view and are not embedded in reports.

Local data and deletion

Dialvane has no account or cloud database, so support cannot see, synchronize, or recover a deleted reading. Delete an individual reading from its meter history, or swipe a meter in the Meters list to remove that meter, its readings, managed photographs, and reminder.

Export records you need before deleting them or removing the app. Deleting local data cannot remove copies you previously exported to another app, person, or storage location.
