Bro — Is this AI? — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-13
This Privacy Policy describes how the "Bro — Is this AI?" browser extension ("the Extension"), published by SoftForge Digital, collects, uses, stores, and shares data. The Extension lets you right-click an image or video to check whether it appears to be AI-generated. All analysis happens locally in your browser; SoftForge Digital operates no server and never receives your data.
1. Summary
- Analysis runs entirely on your device. The image or video you check is read in your browser and is not uploaded to SoftForge Digital or anyone else.
- A short history of your checks is stored locally on your device and can be cleared anytime.
- There is no account, analytics, advertising, tracking, or telemetry.
- The only feature that contacts a third party is the optional "Find the source online" button, and only if you click it.
2. Data the Extension collects and processes
- The image or video you check: when you right-click a file and run a check, the Extension reads that file locally in your browser to produce a verdict. The file itself is not transmitted off your device.
- Local check history: for each check, the Extension stores the verdict, the confidence level, the likely source, the file type, the web address (host) of the page you were on, and a timestamp.
3. How the data is used
Data is used only to provide the Extension's stated function. It is never used for advertising or profiling, and is never sold.
- To analyze the file you selected and show you a verdict with supporting evidence.
- To display your recent checks in the Extension's history page.
4. Who the data is shared with (third parties)
By default, the Extension shares no data with anyone. Analysis is performed locally and SoftForge Digital has no server to receive it.
The Extension includes optional "Find the source online" buttons. These do nothing unless you click them. If you click one, the Extension opens a normal web search in a new browser tab using the selected service, which necessarily sends that image's web address (URL) to that service so it can search for it. This is the only circumstance in which data leaves your device, and it never happens automatically. The services and their privacy policies are:
- Google Lens (Google LLC) — lens.google.com — https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Yandex Images (Yandex) — yandex.com — https://yandex.com/legal/confidential/
- TinEye (Idée Inc.) — tineye.com — https://tineye.com/privacy
5. Where data is stored, and retention
- Check history is stored using chrome.storage.local on your device only, limited to your most recent 100 checks.
- SoftForge Digital stores none of this data — there is no server, database, or backup operated by us.
- Data is retained until you clear your history or uninstall the Extension, which removes all of its locally stored data.
6. Your choices and controls
- Clear your check history at any time from the history page.
- Simply do not click the optional "Find the source online" buttons if you do not want any data to leave your device.
- Uninstalling the Extension permanently deletes all of its locally stored data.
7. Children
The Extension is a general-purpose tool and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country).
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Extension evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date above.
